MOVIE: Release Of ‘Half Of A Yellow Sun’ Postponed.


 Release of the movie, Half of a Yellow Sun, was on Friday postponed till May 2 pending clearance by the Nigerian Film and Video Censors Board.
This was contained in a statement by Shareman Media, the Nigerian producers and Film One Distribution, the Nigerian distributors of the film in Lagos.
“The highly anticipated release of Half of a Yellow Sun in Nigeria has been postponed due to delays in obtaining certification from the Nigerian Film and Video Censors Board.
“Subject to obtaining the certification of the Board, the film is now rescheduled for release on May 2, 2014.’’


The movie, being an adaptation of Chimamanda Adichie’s second novel, ‘Half of a Yellow Sun,’ was set in civil war Nigerian society and was first screened to a selected Nigerian audience on April 11.
It was earlier scheduled for nationwide release on April 25.
‘Half of a Yellow Sun’ featured Nigerian-born Hollywood actor, Chinwetel Ejiofor; Nollywood stars Genevieve Nnaji, Gloria Young, O.C. Ukeja, Tina Mba and Onyeka Onwenu.
Others are John Boyega, Anika Rose, Wale Ojo, Thandie Newton and Zack Orji.
It was directed by Biyi Bandele, and it reportedly cost eight million dollars to produce.
The film was produced by Andre Calderwood, Sandra Obiago, Yewande Sadiku and Mukhtar Bakare.
