WINNIPEG - Robin Thicke has pulled out of tonight's Juno Awards.
Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences confirmed yesterday
that the "Blurred Lines" singer will no longer perform the broadcast,
saying he has been placed on mandatory vocal rest. Producer John Brunton
said the cancellation would not impact what he expects to be a "hell of a
show."Thicke had already been under controversy at the Junos. A petition sought to have him barred form the show, arguing that his hit song is sexist and degrading to women.
He has also been plagued by personal problems of late and recently split with his wife, actress Paula Patton.
Thicke — the son of actor Alan Thicke — had been ready to add some star power to a Juno broadcast that will be hosted by Classified, Johnny Reid and Serena Ryder.
Still ready to perform are OneRepublic, Ryder, Sarah McLachlan, and Tegan and Sara, among others. Arcade Fire will also take part with a taped performance from their tour. The Junos air tonight on CTV.
