Coach begs for training facilities

Ekiti State table tennis coach  Olubode Ajayi has  urged the state government to provide  training facilities for its  athletes, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.
Ajayi told  NAN during the week that a lack of training facilities had affected the performance of the state’s athletes in national competitions.
According to him, the state is blessed with a lot of budding talents in table tennis but a lack of facilities has been hampering the development of their skills.
He said, “Our athletes need a good training hall for table tennis. The  place we are using for training is not encouraging.
“We implore the government to provide a good table tennis hall with the necessary equipment to aid athletes’ training.
“If the equipment is of ITTF standard, it will spur our athletes to prepare ahead of competitions and excel.”
The coach, who led the Ekiti contingent to the U-17 Toyin Okenla-Ojeaga Championships in Lagos,  lauded the sponsor for promoting table tennis in the country.
